Hidden Paradises in Perak DISCOVERED! [ Part 2]

                                         The Royal Belum Rainforest

Whenever people mention Perak, it is only Ipoh or Pangkor island will pop up in their mind. Under the VISIT PERAK 2017 program, the state government would like to introduce the another tourist spot, The Royal Belum Rainforest.

The Royal Belum Rainforest is a gem for the Perak State and also the locals. It is one of the oldest rainforest in the world. The age of this forest is now 130 million years or more.

Belum was first gazetted as a state park and subsequently it was declared as Royal Belum by the Sultan Perak. It is now considered as part of Royal heritage and part of is conserved and protected as state park. It is now also   one of Malaysia's premier eco-tourism destinations.

To enter the Royal Belum Rainforest, you will need to first arrive at Pulau Banting Jetty. From Kuala Lumpur it is roughly a 5 to 6 hour drive to get to Belum. Once you've passed Ipoh you exit at Kuala Kangsar (exit 143). From there you follow the signs to Kuala Kangsar, Sauk, Lenggong and Gerik. Once you've passed Gerik you will be driving on the East-West Expressway that goes all the way to the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia (to Kota Bharu). Soon you will see the signs leading to Royal Belum State Park. The boats to the resorts depart from Pulau Banding Jetty, here you can also park your car.

ATTRACTION OF BELUM

Belum has a lot to offer and many of the attractions are located along Lake Temenggor. The only transport is : BOAT. So you will often make use of a boat to venture out to these places.

Attraction and activities :

1. Jungle trail

2. Search for Rafflesia
3. Visit to orang asli village
4. Waterfalls
5. Spot wildlife
6. Trek to salt lick

You need not to worry you can't find all these places, as you are travel in group, your boatman or your tour guide will know all these attraction location. From one attraction to another, your only transport is the BOAT.

Inside Belum, this is the usual scenery you will see. it is all water and plants. The forest is huge and surrounded by water.

This is our boat house, where you will eat, sing and sleep. Yes you see it right, when you travel in belum, boat house is one of the accomodation choice. There are a packages for it, you can just choose the right one and start your adventure now.

This tree is huge and it is 100 years old or more.

                                                                           Selfie time!!!

Rafflesia is one of the biggest flower in the world. it takes 9 months to grow from seed and bloom. However, the blooming period only last for seven to nine days. This rafflesia we saw is dying. If you are lucky, you will see the rafflesia as below.

                                                                 SALT LICK SPOT
                                                                              ↓↓

Yes you see it right, i am not joking or kidding. You will wonder why i post up this patch of wet soil without any nice creature in it.

This is actually a salt lick. In case you do not know what it is, salt lick is also known as mineral  lick . It is a place where animals can go to lick essential mineral nutrients from a deposit of salts and other minerals, especially when the animal is sick, they will go to the salts lick.

Obviously, we are unlucky because we never spot a wildlife or animal nearby the salt lick to get the mineral.

We also made a visit to the orang also village. The orang asli here is known as Jahai Orang Asli and their ancestors was from Africa.

                                                      O.M.G. Nice view!

Entrance to the village. A small wooden door.

The government has been taking care of the villagers and provide them the necessity such as electricity, water, toilet and television. The solar here was meant for the children to study at night due to the electricity here is limited.

The child here just like us, they still go to school, have a small clinic and live with their families. I think this is really precious and a wake up call for the citizen in the city.

NEXT : ROYAL BELUM RAINFOREST RESORT! ANOTHER PARADISE TO BE REVEALED!

Hidden Paradises in Perak DISCOVERED! [Part 1]

I just took a short vacation to explore more on Perak states in Malaysia. It was a wonderful trip full of surprise and stunning views in Perak, Malaysia.

Instead of driving up there, we took a train from KL Central to Ipoh Railway Station. The journey is about 2 hours and along the railway, you can discover a lot scenery you are not able to see by taking the highways.

                                                                 Ipoh railway station

This stunning train station was the same architecture of the Ipoh City Town Hall and Mosque Ubudiah by A.B Hubback, a british architect.

In front of the railway station, there is Ipoh City Town Hall which previously was used as police station.

Under the stage there is a tunnel link to the High Court, due to this place was used as police station, the tunnel was to let criminals to go to the court for hearing. The tunnel is closed and beneath under the stage now.

                                                                The Gallery Sultan Azlan Shah

The former palace of Sultan Perak, located in Kuala Kangsar, originally built in 1898 and completed in 1903 and this place is know as Royal Town as well. This gallery is open to public to visit now.

I never know we have such a beautiful palace in this country and this is only one of them. Stay tuned and i will show you guys more.

Then we come to this Masjid Ubudiah situated in Kuala Kangsar as well. It is one of the most beautiful mosque in the world and it was built during the first world war.

As mentioned earlier, this was design by the british architect A.B Hubback. It is now maintain by the Royal Family, no doubt, it is really well maintained. inside the mosque it is all marble, when the muslim praying in the mosque, it is always cooling no matter how hot it is outside.

Next palace : Istana Kenangan , soon to be a museum. This was a temporary palace for Sultan Iskandar Shah while waiting the another palace to be built up. The interesting part of this palace was it build without a single nail.

Upon completion of Istana Iskandariah, this palace was used to host royal receptions and where the palace guests stayed. Due to the maintenance and turn to be museum, if you found any nails in the palace it is reasonable.

Stay tuned! The HUGE hidden gem in Perak will be revealed in PART TWO and you will not want to missed it!
